Okay, so I was at the dog park the other day, and it was pretty nice out. Quimby has been limping so we decided it would be a good idea to keep him in a small fenced in area. He was liking it. Smudge was in there with him, and although Smudge can’t really keep up with how hardcore Quimby is, they were playing pretty good. Smudge was running and Quimby was chasing him for a while. They were moving really fast when all of a sudden Quimby decided he would break free of the fenced area. It is my belief that he believed that if he believed hard enough that the fence was not there, it would cease to exist. He then ran head on (at FULL speed) into the chain link fence.

It looked like when a ram decides to ram something, only Quimby isn’t a ram, he is a dog. He does not have horns built to destroy things at all, however he does know how to be intense and epic. The fence is now concave where he hit it. It was a crash of epic proportions. So much so that he now has a bald spot. Have you ever headbutted something so hard that you have a bald spot? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

I haven’t seen a puppy like this since we got Quimby. It was interesting to watch them play, as for the first time, Quimby was the larger dog. He basically was unrelenting in his assault, I had to pull him off a couple times. The energy was strange at the park yesterday. There were several really intense fights. Thankfully, neither Quimby or Petey were involved, however Quimby had to show some serious aggression when two large dogs were trying to attack him. I can see why it was overwhelming for him. Granted there were many dogs up there, but they usually are cool. I would imagine that it has to do with the fact that it was nice out, and it was a Tuesday. Or something like that. Anyway, here’s Petey, a close to 4 month old puppy who is pretty awesome. He is also faster than Quimby, which is pretty funny.

Updates:
Quimby’s nose splitting was no big deal according to the vet. Awesome.
He is getting super fast, and good at commands.
He lets you hold him all day long.
He is getting along with the cats better, although every time I pick up Lily, as soon as I put her down, if Quimby is in the room, she runs over to him and slaps him around. Literally, no claws, just smacks him all up. It’s like clockwork. I’ll have to film it for next week.

Have and Halloween suggestions for Quimby’s costume?

Tomorrow, the Poganddog of the month will be announced!!!

Quimby has passed the rocks or so it would seem. He’s been eating them when he gets bored, or so we think. My guess is that if we stuff him with enough treats when he’s just doing his thing, he will be fine. Last night at dog school, we were doing a ping pong exercise where two people call the dog from 15 feet away and and reward with treats when the dog listens. Since Quimby had not been to the dog park, he had lots of energy, and immediately took off trying to get to every dog and spread the word of his rebellion. He is really, really fast when he wants to be. I’m going to try to get some footage of this next time we head over to the dog park.

As far as other Quimby updates, he is getting really good with some commands. He has sit and down as separate things, and is doing much better with his come command. His lip issue was nothing to worry about, as the vet said it was totally normal. All in all, he is SUCH a good boy.
