As you can tell from this photo, It was -2 degrees out this morning. The cold got me thinking about summer. I realize I get help from a lot of local Maine businesses, so I figured I’d spotlight some that have been there for me this past year.
As you may or may not be aware, Quimby occasionally likes to dig. I wouldn’t say he’s a digger, but he does enjoy a solid tear through some loose soil from time to time. He’s quite happy when the snow comes, he loves it, but nothing replaces his dirt experience. It’s a two step process – he starts by digging furiously, then proceeds to throw his body to the ground while simultaneously mashing his nose into the freshly excavated dirt. He will do this 3-4 times before getting sick of it, and because he’s so powerful, can move quite a bit of earth. That’s where the Fine folks at Skillins Greenhouses come in. Not only were they super helpful in getting me the right kind of soil for my yard, they also offered some fine advice when it came to lawn care. With a dog like Quimby, I realize I’m probably not going to curb him of this habit, so it was helpful to know how to plant grass seed properly. I highly recommend them for your yard care needs. They do a lot too! Cool to find a place you could get Maine wedding flowers AND Christmas trees! Props to them.
